Short Bio

Since March 2014, I am a postdoc researcher in the Rainbow group at the Computer Laboratory of the University of Cambridge (United Kingdom). I completed my PhD studies in February 2014 at the Faculty of Informatics of the University of Lugano (Switzerland). My thesis, entitled "End-User Development of Mashups Using Live Natural Language Programming", addresses the problem of end-user situational programming by proposing and implementing a novel interactive system that allows on-the-fly, do-it-yourself development of web mashups.

I hold a M.S. in Software Engineering and Management from the IT University of Gothenburg (Sweden, 2009), where I was a member of Crisis Response Lab, and a B.S. in Computer Science from the Vaxjo University (Sweden, 2007).

In a broad outline, my research interests lie at the intersection of Web engineering and Human-Computer Interaction. Currently, my research aim is to advance theoretical and practical understanding of the design of the Internet of Things products. To be specific, I am involved in:

  • Developing a novel context-aware natural language interface for interacting with smart homes.
  • Studying the psychological characteristics of users (such as personality, motivation, and vocational interest) with regard to end-user programming in the internet of things context.
  • Using augmented reality combined with multitouch gestures as an interface for smart homes automation.
